ShakesPeers: A Shakespeare-Inspired Community Salon
Inspiration. Connection. Community. Fun! ShakesPeers.
A space for theatre lovers, artists, and the Shakespeare-curious to gather, explore, and connect.
What is ShakesPeers?
ShakesPeers is a monthly Shakespeare-inspired salon series hosted by Full Circle Theatre. It is not performance based. It is not a workshop. What is it? It is a fun, low-pressure opportunity to gather with your theatre community, audience and artists alike. We explore the Bard’s works and get to know each other through discussion, activities, and silliness. The ultimate goal is to build a strong, engaged theatre community that can come together outside of shows.
No Shakespeare experience needed – just come to play!
Upcoming Event: Roles in a Bowl – The Taming of the Shrew
September 14, 2025 | 6:00–9:15 PM | Bottlescrew Bill’s (140 10 Ave SW) | FREE | Donations Welcome
Join us for another round of Roles in a Bowl, our chaotic, community-favourite Shakespeare readthrough, where nobody knows what part they’ll play until it’s time to speak!
This time, we’re diving into The Taming of the Shrew, Shakespeare’s battle-of-the-wits comedy filled with sharp tongues, bold suitors, and more disguises than anyone can keep straight. (It’s always just a hat and glasses. This is Shakespeare.) Whether you’re here for fiery banter, awkward wooing, or just to watch it all unfold, this one’s for you.
What to Expect?
Interactive Cold Read
At the start of each act, we’ll draw character names from a bowl to assign roles on the spot – expect multiple roles, wild swaps, and maximum fun. No prep, no pressure, just the joy of hearing the Bard’s words come to life.
Not a Reader? No Problem.
Want to sit back and soak it in? We love that too. Readers and listeners are equally welcome.
Drinks & Good Company
We’re thrilled to partner with Bottlescrew Bill’s for this event. Grab a drink, settle in, and enjoy an evening of fun with friends, new and old, in a relaxed setting. (The vibes are immaculate.)
This is a casual, community-building event. It’s not an audition, not a class, and not a performance—just a chance to nerd out over some Shakespeare and connect with other theatre folks.
Totally free to attend, but donations help us keep these salons going strong. If you can, consider buying a beverage to support our venue or throwing a tip our way. If not? No worries. We’re just happy to have you.
Spots are limited, so reserve yours today!

Nope! Some events involve reading text aloud, but there’s never any pressure to perform. Many people simply come to listen and join the discussion.

Most salons are pay-what-you-can or free, with donations welcome to help support future events.
