ShakesPeers: A Shakespeare-Inspired Community Salon
Inspiration. Connection. Community. Fun! ShakesPeers.
A space for theatre lovers, artists, and the Shakespeare-curious to gather, explore, and connect.
What is ShakesPeers?
ShakesPeers is a monthly Shakespeare-inspired salon series hosted by Full Circle Theatre. It is not performance based. It is not a workshop. What is it? It is a fun, low-pressure opportunity to gather with your theatre community, audience and artists alike. We explore the Bard’s works and get to know each other through discussion, activities, and silliness. The ultimate goal is to build a strong, engaged theatre community that can come together outside of shows.
No Shakespeare experience needed – just come to play!
Upcoming Event: Intimacy and love scenes
February 15, 2026 | 6:00–9:00 PM | Glitch Gaming (127 Kingsview Rd SE #203, Airdrie) | Pay-What-You-Will
Join Full Circle Theatre, in collaboration with Nose Creek Players, for a ShakesPeers salon dedicated to intimacy, connection, and Shakespeare’s most unforgettable love scenes.
This month, we’re creating space for thoughtful conversation about how intimacy is approached onstage. We’ll start the evening with a short, accessible introduction to intimacy direction, and finish by diving into discussion around the Bard’s greatest (and messiest) love scenes.
What do we have up our sleeves?
Intimacy Direction 101
We’ll kick off the night with a mini-presentation from our excellent colleague Gillian Klassen, exploring what intimacy direction is, what it isn’t, and why it matters. Expect a practical, human approach to consent-based practices, boundaries, and storytelling - no jargon, no pressure, and no prior knowledge required.
Shakespeare’s Love Scenes
After the presentation, we’ll shift into a group discussion unpacking Shakespeare’s most iconic love scenes. From sweeping romance to awkward yearning to complicated desire, we’ll talk about what makes these scenes resonate, how they’re staged today, and what they can still teach us about intimacy and connection.
This event is all about curiosity, conversation, and community. Whether you’re a theatre artist, a Shakespeare enthusiast, or just someone interested in how stories handle love and intimacy, you’re warmly welcome.
Pay-What-You-Can
There’s no set ticket price! Just contribute what feels right for you. Your generosity helps us continue offering inclusive community events like this one. If cost is a barrier, please join us anyway, by booking a $0 ticket.
Come connect, ask questions, and talk love (the Shakespearean kind).
